CALL FOR PAPERS
SPECIAL SESSIONS ON HISTORY OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS

"Telecommunication's Contributions to Mankind (1884-2009)"

Many historical developments have occurred in telecommunications during the 125 years of the IEEE and its predecessors and it is important to provide a critical discussion of these technological events for the professional audience.  Subjects needing historical coverage range from the inventions of the telephone and radio, through the development of television and the use of digital transmission for the benefit of humanity. IEEE GLOBECOM 2009, to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii in December 2009, will include special sessions that feature:

  • A keynote lecture on a historical development in telecommunications.
  • A panel of experts to highlight the outcomes of the divestiture process - 25 years after.
  • Paper presentations on important contributions of telecommunications to humanity made during the 125-year existence of the IEEE (e.g. Tele-education, Tele-medicine, 911 - Tele-guidance, etc.).

Prospective authors are invited to submit original technical papers for presentation and publication in the Proceedings. Proposals for the panel presentations are also invited.

The deadline for submission of technical papers is 31 March 2009.
Please visit the IEEE GLOBECOM 2009 website:
